Ramsey Cascades Waterfall
Ramsey Cascades is not only one of the tallest waterfalls in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it is widely considered one of the most spectacular. Water plummets 100 feet over several rock outcroppings and collect in a small pool. Numerous, and well-camouflaged, salamanders can be found in and around Ramsay Cascades.
It is a favorite, although strenuous, Smoky Mountains hiking destination among local and visiting hikers alike. Those who wish to reach Ramsey Cascades will need to endure an 8-mile round trip hike with a 2,000 ft. elevation gain. With that said, the hike is a favorite as it is filled with beautiful old-growth forest and follows the course of the beautiful fast-flowing stream.
Directions: Ramsey Cascades can be reached from U.S. Highway 321 (5.9 miles east of Gatlinburg). More info below.
